Carolyn Jongeward is a Canadian artist whose work includes acrylic painting, mixed media, and hand-woven tapestry. Carolyn began her artistic career through tapestry design and weaving, which launched her in-depth exploration of colour, and an affinity for geometry, symmetries, and pattern in art and nature. Carolyn has a Master of Arts from the Royal College of Art in London, England. Her tapestries have been exhibited in Canada, United States, and England and are held in private and corporate collections. The creative process of her early tapestry designing is told in the book Weaver of Worlds by David Jongeward, published by Inner Traditions International in 1990. She has taught courses and workshops on tapestry, design, colour, and creative process. Since 2000, Carolyn has applied her extensive experience as tapestry artist and ongoing investigation of colour, pattern, and texture to the creation of dynamic abstract paintings. She continues to weave one-of-a-kind tapestries for exhibition and commission. Carolyn works in a studio at the Women’s Art Association of Canada, in Toronto, and also at her home studio in North Kawartha, Ontario. Carolyn is a member of the professional Canadian artists’ organization, CARFAC, and her artwork is exhibited frequently in Ontario.
